Rob Burrow Rugby Honour Cap: Gentlemen & Players Hall of Fame
Rob Burrow, a name that resonates in the rugby community, was a 41-year-old player of immense talent and no-one else would be more perfect for our monthly honour cap award than him. With a career spanning nearly 500 appearances, he dedicated his professional life to the Leeds Rhinos Rugby League team.
Sadly, Rob passed away from Motor Neurone Disease (MND) earlier this year after being diagnosed in 2019. But his diagnosis did not stop him from pursuing his own goals. Despite his diagnosis, Burrows and Kevin Sinfield continued to raise awareness of MND, raising vital funds and awareness. His efforts were incredibly impressive, and he was therefore honoured with a CBE earlier in 2024.
Rob Burrow Rugby League Achievements
As if battling a disease whilst raising vital awareness for Motor Neurone Disease wasn’t enough, Rob Burrow had an established career as a rugby league player for the Leeds Rhinos.
Rob Burrow, a true pillar of the Leeds Rhinos team, left an indelible mark on the field. With 492 appearances and a staggering 66% win ratio, his numbers speak volumes. But it was his leadership and inspiration that truly set him apart, igniting greatness in those who played alongside him.
It was 2007 that saw a dramatic shift in his career. He was announced Player of the Year for Leed’s Rhinos, helping them claim the Harry Sunderland Trophy after defeating St. Helens. Not long after, he received his call-up to international duty, playing against France later in 2007.
After establishing himself on the international circuit, Burrow finished at the top of the table with 26 points scored individually during his test series against New Zealand.
A Rob Burrow Honour Cap Award
At Gentlemen & Players, we continually try to shine a spotlight on sports personalities who have performed tremendously both on and off the sports field.
With six customisable panels for personalised branding, we would interchangeably establish the Leeds Rhino’s brand colours of blue and yellow over each panel. Perhaps, with the additional gold trimming for a sense of achievement and celebration, the cap would be finished with an embroidered logo front and centre.
The customisable text on the side panels and the front peak of the honour cap would certainly include Burrow’s achievements. It would hang with pride in one of our luxury honour cap cases.
